The MR-S Mending Plate reinforces floor joists with minor defects: small cracks and knots. It is not designed for broken, severed, or heavily damaged joists.

Joist broken or severed? Use the MR-X Mending Reinforcer, tested on joists cut completely apart and reconnected.
Hole or notch? Use an HR hole reinforcer, or an SNR or DNR notch reinforcer.

MR-S plates are 10-gauge G90 galvanized steel and mount on one side of the joist, with nothing below it. That makes them a good fit where a finished drywall ceiling is in place. Patent Pending.

1 Mending Plate Assembly
Matched quantity of 1/4" x 1-1/2" structural T25 Torx fasteners
1 T25 Torx driver
1 5/32" drill bit for pilot holes
